DIY Uses

How to Use It Well

  • Always dilute. Never apply undiluted to skin. Start low (about 0.5–1% for face blends; up to 2% max for targeted blends).
  • Tea tree doesn’t mix with water on its own. If you’re making a mist or toner, you’ll need a blending helper - otherwise use it in oils and balms.
  • Patch test first and avoid eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Less is more. A drop or two can go a long way in a small DIY batch.

In Depth: Tea Tree

🍃 What Is Tea Tree?

Tea tree comes from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant, native to Australia.

The leaves are steam‑distilled to produce a potent essential oil rich in natural aromatic compounds called terpenes.

These naturally aromatic compounds contribute to tea tree’s well-known fresh, clarifying character in skincare when used appropriately.
